Music education offers a variety of positive outcomes for students to enjoy as they develop their self-esteem, listening skills, and creativity. Singing and learning music provides students with the ability to further develop their memory and as it enhances their language learning capabilities.
Some highlights of our program include:
In December, students from Preschool through 8th grade participate in a Christmas concert performance.
Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten classes learn songs with movement and play games that introduce dynamics, tempos, instrument families, and other basic music theory.
First and second graders explore world music and musical genres while practicing basic percussive rhythms.
Third grade begins studying the recorder and performs a puppet show in March for the younger students.
Fourth grade students serve as the children’s chorus for Mass each week and continue their study of the recorder.
Our middle school students in grades 5-8 expand their skills with keyboards and ukulele.
Each December, we also have the privilege of singing at the Providence Festival of Trees. The annual Spring Sing performance for Preschool through 8th grade takes place in May, alongside the Middle School musical, which is performed each year in May.
